How can I stretch for martial arts?

I am currently 20 years old.

I used to play Taekwondu when I was 10 years old until 15, I got the red belt, now I am thinking of going back to it, I tried to practice some of the kicks and I found out that I suck!!! I cannot perform a double kick anymore, I jump and kick but my leg does not go above my height. And the side and round kicks are nightmare, I suck so bad, how can I stretch for it?
Stfu you idiot. I was much shorter then, and I used to move my legs a lot so I didn’t bother stretching that much. You dum troll, go back to your mom.

The main stretch to do would be the spilts.
Try just standing up and keep your legs locked and swing one up as high as you can. Doing this will increase your stretch.

what stretches can a 21 year old guy do to gain the flexibility to do the splits?

I am a 21 year old mail, getting ready to start ballet lessons in about a month, and I want to be able to do the splits. I am 6′8" tall and weigh 180 pounds, so pretty skinny, so kinda flexible already. Please be detailed or post links and pics, but I want to know what I can do to get to a point where I can do the splits the quickest.

Looks like you will need the barre for this……If you don’t have a barre, a top of a high chair or table will do.

Raise one of your legs to straight position so that it is horizontal to the floor. The unraised leg should be straight.

Stretch the horizontal leg so that your toe points and hold it…..for about 20 seconds or so.

There is another type of stretch that can be done without the barre….

Sit on your gluteals, bring both legs spread-out as straight as you can in a 1/4 or 1/3 side split. Now, keeping that split (holding it), lean your upper body slowly backward, one vertebrae at the time, until your face nearly touches the floor, and you stay in that leaned position for about 15-20 seconds. Then slowly go back to straight position one vertebrae at a time…but don’t move your legs and feet…keep them at that split position.

Repeat the stretch leaning forward and backward 5 more times….and on each time, bring your hands straight on the ground and let them walk on the ground away from your body as much as you can for a better stretch.

This stretch would be good for the hamstrings….but you won’t see them more flexible overnight….you need to wait 3 weeks and you need to do the stretches every day or nearly every day or you will lose this increased flexibility.

How to learn the splits

How to learn and get your splits!
Sorry if its kinda hard to hear me. Basically, all I’m saying is:
Hi this is an how to video on how to get your splits.
First stretch. I’m going fast [cause really i would take about 15 or 20 mins to stretch but i already did and i wanted to go quickly for you guys otherwise this video would be really boring haha].
Then I get into a split position [you don't have to be all the way down] and all I’m doing is tightening my legs and using them to push me upward. You do this in either the regular splits or in the straddle. I did this about 20 times the first time I did this exercise but depending on how close you are to your splits do five at at a time, and check your progress, and stretch in between if you want. This is probably the best exercise to help you get your splits.
And remember, if you get your splits the first day after trying these exercises and stretches great but if you don’t, don’t be depressed, it’s totally okay. I got mine after trying this upward exercise but I tried to stretch and get splits long before that. And everyone’s different. This will hopefully work well for you, but I’ll eventually put another video up with more stretches and exercises. But I hope this works for you. Remember and don’t forget that determination is the key and practice makes perfect!
